I recently learned that one of the best ways to be happier in life is to be more grateful. Acknowledging the things that we are grateful and thankful for is a powerful tool in cultivating our own happiness. And if we express that gratitude to an individual it increases our own happiness further as well as the recipient. Not only will being more grateful make us happier it will also increase our motivation..
But this takes work. We must develop a habit of being grateful. We need to think of gratefulness like a muscle; it must be exercised regularly to become stronger. If we want to be more grateful, we need to be more grateful. Every day, spend some time (preferably in the morning) reflecting on the positive things in your life. The key is to focus on the positives, being grateful for even the smallest things in our day, a beautiful sunrise, a nice conversation with a loved one, flowers, etc. Write these down. When you have the chance to thank someone directly, do so. Write them a nice thank you letter and deliver it in person.
All of these things have been clinically proven to improve your happiness and motivation. So, get started today and work out your “grateful” muscles and #ActivateHappy!
We are challenging you all to write down three points of gratitude each day for the next two weeks. Comment and let us know how this is making you feel.
