A few months back I was driving around the countryside delivering shirts to folks. It was a beautiful spring day and I had the windows down enjoying some fresh air. In flew a bee that landed on my hand. I looked at it long enough to discern that it was a honey bee and wishing to do my part to help agriculture I tried to shoo it out the window.
Before I knew what happened, I’d gotten too close to the edge of the road and clipped some mail boxes. Thankfully no one was hurt except the side of my car needed a $1500 makeover. I’d lost focus and caused a much bigger problem than if I’d gotten stung. I focused on the wrong problem and ignored a much bigger one,
We need to stay focused on the important things in life and our physical/mental health should be at the top of that list. There are many “dangers” in this world; the news and social media are full of urgent warnings. But are we paying attention to the most important things?
We’re all showing danger signs, irritability, anxiousness, sleeplessness, lethargy, depression, overeating, etc.! It’s time to heed those warnings and focus...focus on self care because without our health and/or sobriety everything else will crash.
You likely know what you need to do but in case you need some reminders:
Exercise 20-30 minutes a day (join us on ZOOM)
Sleep 7-8 hours
Eat more fruits and vegetables and less sugar
Drink more water and less of anything else :-)
Spend time with loved ones and friends, remotely if needed or just go outside for a walk with them so you can both get some exercise.
Breathe deep and relax a little every hour
There you have it, now JUST DO IT!
